Check out the concert review written on Shad and his supporter Miracle Fortress’ performance by Hip Hop Canada.

Vancouver, B.C. – This past weekend Juno Award winner Shad K performed a very early show at Fortune Sound Club…it was strange to be in the club before the sun had even set. But it was definitely worth checking out – be sure to see his blog www.shadk.com for tracks, videos and personal narratives. Montreal-based indie rock band Miracle Fortress opened for the old prince, playing primarily off their last release “Was I The Wave?”: they played a few tracks including popular single “Raw Spectacle” that was catchy, engaging and well performed. Being unfamiliar with this genre, their music seemed kind of reminiscent of Muse or Coldplay with an electronic spin on it. With their mini light show and great energy they had the crowd excited and amped up for the lead act to come.

Before Shad even came out, chants of “We Want Shad” emerged from the audience, getting louder and louder; he drew out quite the interesting group of people and it looked as though he has a pretty good fan base within Vancouver, which is where he’s been living for the past few years. When he finally appeared on stage the room roared and he started off with a crowd favorite “Compromise.” Within minutes he had hands waving in the air and his lyrics being sung back to him. His down-to-earth, yet exciting energy maintained throughout, as he performed over 15 tracks, some of which included “Keep Shining,” “Old Prince Still Lives at Home,” “I Don’t Like To,” “A Good Name,” and the universal favorite “Rose Garden.”
